Greg Rahn at the Empress Lounge

Greg Rahn is celebrating the release of his new album Rent Party, and you’re invited! Join us for a night of music and celebration on Thursday, November 4 at 8pm in the Empress Lounge. Greg is an American pianist whose compositions are dripping with honky-tonk, jazz, blues, and blazing boogie-woogie influences from New Orleans pianists like Professor Longhair, Pete Johnson, and Dr John. His debut album, Rent Party, is inspired by the rent parties that were common in urban American cities in the 1920s and ’30s, where renters would invite guests over a few days before rent was due, charge 25¢ for admission and have musical performances, serve food and drinks, and, of course, celebrate. Greg will be accompanied by Steve Evans on bass (he has performed with Etta James, Bo Diddley, Maria Muldaur) and Kevin Hayes on drums (who has performed with Robert Cray, John Lee Hooker, BB King).
