Discovering the Truth Hidden in Official Claims
In this piece, the importance of conspiracy theorists is brought up. Not everything that is said should be written off so quickly, there are always more sides of the story that some may not want to tell.
Conspiracy theorists need to be taken more seriously in this day and age. With the internet being a predominant part of our society, information that is not biased is hard to find. Most often, mainstream media pushes a certain agenda that goes out to the masses and for many, it is a main source that is used to acquire information. Knowing this, it is important to view events through multiple perspectives to gain a comprehensive understanding of real events that have occurred or are occurring. Keeping this in mind, conspiracy theorists are often faced with a stigma of being people that don’t know what they are talking about, which is then used to discredit the information that contradicts the official account. This Spring of 2021, I took a Class at Sonoma State University with Professor Phillips, where we talked about some conspiracies that have occurred throughout history. Before entering this class, I did not have any information about the events that occurred on 9/11 or with the assassination of Martin Luther King. I knew the basics of what had been taught in High school or what the mainstream information says about the topic. In the book, 9/11 Unmasked: An International Review Panel Investigation by David Ray Griffin and Elizabeth Woodworth, it talks about the events and provides evidence of what happened on that day. While reading this book, an example that was provided claimed that there weren’t any explosions that happened, where the evidence showed that there were pieces of bones that were shot horizontally miles away. This brings forth the idea that there was more involvement in 9/11 than what we have been led to believe. This information is important to know because it helps build your own opinion about the topic, while also making people more aware and to be able to question the official account that is being presented by the government and media. Not only this, but with information being at the tip of our fingers, there is nothing that can stop us from building our own opinions based on the information that is being presented. Conspiracies theorists need to be taken seriously for the information that they bring to light. It is up to us to see if what is being said is valuable or not, but they should not be written off so quickly.
