CALIFORNIA BOOK TALK: The Dreamt Land: Chasing Water and Dust Across California
AUTHOR: Mark Arax
WHEN: Tue, Dec 8 @ 5 PM – 6:15 PM PT
WHERE: Online book discussion via Zoom
Mark Arax, author of The Dreamt Land, will join us to discuss his award-winning book about water movement and usage in California. Arax himself is a Central Valley native and comes from a farming family, so he has a special insight and connection to water use in that area.
In his book, he traces the history of land and water use in the state; he spent several years traveling the state and interviewing farmers, farm workers, land owners and others to weave together the story of water use and overuse in the state. This book is a must-read for understanding agriculture in the Golden State.
PLEASE NOTE:
This is an online-only, Zoom program; participants will be sent the Zoom connection on the day of the event
This is a book discussion, not a lecture. Participants should be prepared to make comments and ask questions. Please be polite to our speaker and turn your camera on for the event, as he will probably not want to have a discussion with black screens!
