It's astonishing how many backyard bird-feeders and squirrel bins you can find on the property of free-market cheerleaders. There they are, tempting and lulling erstwhile natural habitat opportunists into dependency--at least into expectation of subsidies--in giddy largess, while denying the free market in habitat to fellow human beings.
It's a perverse inhumanity that declares the material world a private domain closed off in its best parts to the mass of people except an entrance fee be paid to the lord of the land. And in the next moment it's a monstrous vanity to think it charming to "feed the sheep," sate the hummingbirds, and content the deer with Costco bags of seed without seeing that as a type of socialism.
But woe to any who question the cult of economic private property in land values. Is the Earth an alienable luxury?! The only good the free-market can construe in use of the earth is in assisting society in determining the market rent of land so that society may collect that rent and put it to public good ends.
Come to a free one-hour teach-in elucidating the economic and spiritual dynamics of, variously, privatizing and socializing the economic value of the earth.
