Connecting Community: Call to Action for an Anti-Racist Society Webinar

Women's March Foundation is pausing our regularly scheduled programming and communications to stand in solidarity with Black lives as we reflect, mourn and organize
action against racism.

Pastor William D. Smart will be joining Women's March to open up conversation amongst our community. Pastor Smart is the President and CEO of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) of Southern California and Co-Pastor of the Christ Liberation Ministries in Los Angeles, where his wife serves as Senior Pastor.

We cannot allow the media narrative to shift away from the police murder of George Floyd and focus on the actions of a small number of people who disrupted peaceful protests, or misdirect blame for police violence.

These protests are the latest boiling point in the centuries-old history of racist terrorism and violence directed at Black communities -- a history we are continually reminded of as these protests take place during the 99th anniversary of the Greenwood Massacre in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As long as our law enforcement institutions commit racist violence with impunity, there will be marchers in the streets calling for justice.
