San Franciscans Protest George Floyd Murder
Over 1000 in peaceful protest at San Francisco's City Hall.

People began accumulating at United Nations Plaza, next to Market Street before noon on Saturday. The rally started as protesters addressed the growing crowd. They then marched the short distance to the steps of City Hall where activists continued to speak. There was no music or entertainment. The mood was anger mixed with sorrow as black and white people spoke of the very difference worlds they inhabited.
The protest took on a political tone as the issue at hand seemed to morph from "civil rights" to revolution.
A white "skinhead " type appeared. As the crowd's hostility grew, a black man intervened and led him to safety.

These pictures show a good demonstration. At night, looters took over Market Street and the Union Square shopping area and despite the fact that nothing is open, managed to break inside and loot stores. Mayor Breed has announced a curfew from 8 pm to 5 am Sunday night, 5/31/20, and asked the governor to have the National Guard on standby. Lots of people live around the Union Square shopping area. It is, after all, part of Nob Hill's rent controlled apartment area as well as the workingclass Chinatown area, my favorite shopping area for reasonably priced fruits and vegetables. Curfew in most of the world can be deadly. The National Guard is certainly not wanted. Hopefully, their trucks cannot climb the steep hills.
