Robert Reich, Chancellor’s Professor and Carmel P. Friesen Chair in Public Policy, UC Berkeley; Former U.S. Secretary of Labor; Author, The System: Who Rigged It, How We Fix It; Twitter @RBReich

Robert Reich is at the forefront of the progressive fight for higher worker wages, expanded health care and stronger unions. He argues that years of stagnant wages and volatile job markets show that the financial system is fixed and serving only a select few with enough money to control it.

Reich shows how wealth and power have eviscerated the middle class and undermined democracy to its core. He exposes how the top propagate myths about meritocracy, corporate social responsibility and the “free market” to accumulate extraordinary capital and influence.

How can we restore confidence back in our political and economic system? Join us for an evening with Robert Reich as he calls upon Americans to instill fundamental change and demand that democracy works for the majority once again.

CORONAVIRUS AND PROGRAMMING UPDATE

Monday, March 9, 2020

Dear Members and Friends:

The Club has paused its public events since Thursday, March 5th. In reviewing future events, as a precaution we have decided to cancel all in-person events for this week and next week, in San Francisco, Marin County and Silicon Valley.

Next week, the Club will be offering the opportunity to participate in some events virtually, so please check the event listings on our website for information and instructions about how to participate. Other events will be postponed until later in the spring or summer; that information will also be listed for each event on our website, as it becomes available.

If you have already purchased tickets for an event that has been cancelled and would like to decline a refund and donate the ticket price to the Club, that would be greatly appreciated, since like many other organizations, the Club will experience a loss of revenue during this period of time. To arrange that, or to obtain a refund, email our guest services team.

The Club’s building is closed to the public. Club staff are mainly working from home. If you have questions, please do email or call the office or the particular staff member you are trying to reach and we will respond as soon as possible. We will let you know when the building will re-open.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we all do our best to protect our community, and we will provide updates over the coming days.
