From GERMANY- NATO leaders met for the 70th anniversary, agreeing on a seriously increased budget. But Donald Trump was outspoken and ridiculed by other leaders.

From SPAIN- Alison Hughes begins with news from the start of the UN sponsored climate summit, COP25- the goal is to finalize the Paris Agreement which the US has withdrawn from, and present the scientific facts that human induced climate change is worsening faster than predicted. Last week Iraq's Prime Minister resigned amid scores of unarmed protestors being murdered by military forces. The protestors demand an entire overhaul of the political system imposed in 2003 during the US occupation, including the constitution. Patrick Cockburn points out that the protests are driven by the scarcity of jobs, water, and electricity in a country that earns $7 billion per month from oil exports.

From CUBA- The Cuban government rejects the US accusation that Cuba is responsible for demonstrations in other Latin American nations- the US is using these allegations to increase the blockade against Cuba and to criminalize protests in the region. Israel announced a plan to double the Jewish population of the Palestinian city of Hebron. The new self-appointed Bolivian government has announced plans to restore ties with Israel. Bolivian President Evo Morales, in exile in Mexico, has been barred from running in an upcoming election

From RUSSIA- On his Program called Going Underground Afshin Rattansi interviewed Guillaume Long, former Foreign Minister of Ecuador. They discuss the fate of Julian Assange who was granted political asylum by the Ecuadorian government of Rafael Correa. Long talks about the causes of the right-wing coup in Bolivia, the battles occurring in the remaining left-wing governments in Latin America, and the changes in Ecuador since US-backed Lenin Moreno became President.

"We in the West have deluded ourselves into believing that we actually have a truly free press. We don't. And we can see that in the difference between what Wikileaks does and what the rest of the press does."
