Join the Labor Committees of the East Bay and San Francisco Democratic Socialists of America for a conversation with Peter Cole, author of Dockworker Power: Race and Activism in Durban and the San Francisco Bay Area, on how workers on the docks organized for racial equality, black international solidarity, and against technology that, in the hands of employers, resulted in massive layoffs for workers and massive profits for employers. What might workers take away from these struggles to apply to the continued fight for racial and economic justice today?

Peter Cole is Professor of History at Western Illinois University and Research Associate in the Society, Work and Development Institute (SWOP), University of the Witwatersrand.
