AFGE fights back against Trump’s attack on labor

Since the Trump regime has taken control of the White House, in addition to it’s on-going attack on labor, reportedly during the past two years in what are known as “news briefings,” a collection of articles sent out to government employees daily, Federal agencies have been sending federal employees articles from white nationalist and conspiracy websites on numerous occasions.

AFGE fights back against Trump’s attack on labor

By Lynda Carson - November 20, 2019

As the horrible misdeeds of the Trump regime continue to be exposed on a daily basis and the impeachment inquiry has taken the spotlight away from Trump’s brutal attack on labor, the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is fighting back against Trump’s scheme to destroy our nation’s unions. A scheme that reportedly has a master plan and a goal to “end collective bargaining” in the federal sector.

In an October 2019 article with Politico about a White House memo detailing a divide-and-conquer labor strategy, the article goes into depth about a 19-page document with a detailed strategy of weakening union leaders. A dastardly scheme designed to weaken union leaders in a devious way that would not alienate union members who supported the Trump campaign in 2016.

According to Politico, “A senior White House labor adviser encouraged President Donald Trump to eliminate all job protections for federal workers and a requirement that federal contractors provide paid sick leave for employees, according to an internal memo obtained by POLITICO.

The document, written in 2017 by James Sherk, a White House domestic policy aide who was previously a research fellow at the right-leaning Heritage Foundation, said the president should pursue a “non-traditional labor legislative agenda” that would sideline union leaders.”

Additionally as reported by Politico, “In a written statement, a White House spokesperson confirmed the document was used in policy deliberations but did not comment on whether the White House’s goals have changed.”

Trump’s Attack On Labor & AFGE:

Since the Trump regime has taken control of the White House, in addition to it’s on-going attack on labor, reportedly during the past two years in what are known as “news briefings,” a collection of articles sent out to government employees daily, Federal agencies have been sending federal employees articles from white nationalist and conspiracy websites on numerous occasions. More about the news briefings sent to federal workers five days a week may be found by clicking here, and here, or here.

According to the website for AFGE,“The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is the largest federal employee union proudly representing 700,000 federal and D.C. government workers nationwide and overseas. Workers in virtually all functions of government at every federal agency depend upon AFGE for legal representation, legislative advocacy, technical expertise and informational services.”

The Five Secret Memo Installments:

Additionally according to AFGE, “A leaked White House memo outlines the administration’s plans to destroy public and private-sector unions, get rid of worker protections, cripple workers’ ability to organize, and increase profits for corporate special interests. The memo, laced with familiar half-truths and outright lies, is proof that AFGE has been right all along in saying that the administration’s true goal in making changes to personnel rules is to “end collective bargaining” in the federal sector.”

The AFGE website includes a series of links to five Secret Memo Installments that provides details about Trump’s scheme to destroy unions and end collective bargaining for federal workers.
