Eric Mills, coordinator of Oakland's ACTION FOR ANIMALS
will speak about his 35 years of work on animal welfare issues here in California. Topics will include current animal welfare legislation, the use of animals in entertainment, animal agriculture and its relation to climate change and public health, live animal food markets, inter alia. The short rodeo documentary “BUCKING TRADITION” will be shown. Related materials will be available, offering ways to help animals and our environment.
Following the presentation, our speaker and Dolores and David Heilbron will lead us in a discussion of the topics raised.
A potluck dinner will be available, please bring something to share if you are able. Everyone is welcome.

Let them hear from you! Possibilities: on-site rodeo veterinarians; ban "steer tailing" and tie-down calf roping; ban nonsensical rodeo events such as "wild cow milking," "mutton busting," and all animal "scrambles." Ban the importation of non-native frogs and turtles for the live animal food markets; ban glue traps--they're non-selective and inhumane.
