The U.S.-led effort for regime change in Venezuela is driving an intense disinformation campaign about conditions in the country. What is really happening?
This talk starts with a brief history of recent developments in Venezuela. Realities on the ground can best be understood through first-hand experiences of the effects of U.S. sanctions on the country and its people. The successes and failures of the Bolivarian Revolution provide vital lessons for socialist construction. The class nature of Venezuela, the social forces supporting the PSUV government versus the opposition, and how struggles and conditions evolve will determine the future of the country.
Mehmet Bayram visited Venezuela with the 'End the Sanctions on Venezuela' delegation and continued his visit independently. He is a contributor and is on the Editorial Board of Sendika.org in Turkey, a left wing news and comment site shut down 62 times by the Turkish government.
Open to the public
Disabled parking and a wheelchair lift are available in the rear parking lot.
Cosponsored by the San José Peace & Justice Center, WILPF San José Branch, Veterans for Peace Chapter 101, Green Party of Santa Clara County, our developing world, and San José CodePink
