National Voter Registration Day is a national holiday celebrating our democracy. It was first observed in 2012 and has been growing in popularity every year since. Held on the fourth Tuesday of September, National Voter Registration Day will take place on September 24, 2019. The holiday has been endorsed by the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS).
It is further supported by the National Association of State Election Directors (NASED), the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC), and the National Association of Election Officials (The Election Center).

In California, the deadline to register to vote for any election is 15 days before Election Day, so please register early! For the March 3, 2020 election, you have to register by February 17, 2020.
To register to vote in California you must:
--be a citizen of the United States & a resident of California
--be 18+ on Election Day to vote; 16-17 yrs. can pre-register in CA
--not be currently in a state or federal prison or on parole for a felony
--not be currently found mentally incompetent to vote by a court

Mobile Voter Registration Cable Car
The Department of Elections outreach team will be traveling around the city on a “cable car” bus: Bayview library branch at 10 a.m., the Excelsior library branch at 11:30 a.m., San Francisco State at 1:30 p.m. and UCSF at 3:30 p.m.
