Sunday, August 25, 2019

You may have seen the NY Times magazine dedicated to #400years since 1619 when the first slave ship arrived at Virginia. The Guardian has been writing about it, too.

The National Park Service -- and churches and other places -- are doing a national bell ringing at noon (our time) this Sunday Aug 25 as a solemn commemoration.

In SF, they are ringing the bell of the Balclutha ship on the Hyde Street Pier (National Maritime Museum) at Fisherman’s Wharf
