Faruq was a Marxist-Humanist correspondent and participant in the historic 2011-13 hunger strikes at Pelican Bay’s notorious short corridor of the Security Housing Unit (SHU). See his reports reprinted in “We want to be validated as human.” He will discuss the relation of Black August to these events and what is new in this chapter of the history of the struggle for liberation.
