Western Addition Peace Festival, August 24, 2019

Why: Free food, massage, dancing, performance, community-building and celebration!

The Western Addition Peace Festival is a joyous no-admission, all-ages event where Fillmore residents and visitors from all over mingle with Bay Area luminaries and enjoy free BBQ, live and DJ-ed music and dancing outdoors on the Buchanan Mall, and a full slate of cultural performances. The festival also features 40 booths offering free interactive creative activities for guests of all ages and immediate access to a range of no-fee health and employment support services.

Karim “Hard Hitta” Mayfield, Golden Gloves champ and Fillmore resident
Emcee Lady Blue
DJ Shug spinning tracks and sharing stories
Spoken-word artist Jeremy Michael Vasquez
Abundant Remnant Gospel Choir
Youth spoken-word poetry slam

FREE activities will include:
Health counseling: Eye exams, blood-pressure checks, massages, peer counseling for youth on safe-sex practices
Kids’ activities: Bounce house, face painting, arts-and-crafts
Youth activities: Skate park by San Francisco Skate Club; three-on-three basketball games between SF Police and local youth
Employment support: Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 104 union apprenticeship sign-ups; personalized resume-writing assistance for job-seekers; start-a-business clinic.
