While social services are cut annually, there always seems to be enough money for war. This year’s handout to the Pentagon was $716 billion, over half of the entire budget! Despite trillions in unaccounted for defense spending, money for war always receives legislative approval without question. Over 40 million around the country are food insecure and struggle daily from rising costs of living and stagnant wages, while the billionaires get tax breaks. In the Bay Area, big tech and developers reap obscene profits while workers are forced into homelessness and gig economy jobs at starvation wages. Join us for a discussion of the ongoing war on the poor, and how a socialist society meets the needs of all.
