In 2016 Rabbi Dov Taylor led a group of Americans on a tour through Israel and Palestine, with a goal of chiefly learning how the people of both nations see their respective current situation. A film crew came along and the result was the 2017 documentary "Seeing Through the Wall", a chronicle of a 12-day practical education about the thoughts of both Israelis and Palestinians in the Occupied Territories and East Jerusalem. On Sunday evening, April 28, PASMC will screen the 57-minute film and follow with a discussion.
Rabbi Taylor has been quoted thus: "I wanted Americans, and American Jews in particular, to have the opportunity to meet and get to know some Palestinians as human beings, just like themselves, with the same hopes and fears and dreams." The travelers not only deal with the stories they hear but also their own preconceived notions; their eyes and minds are opened. Significantly, the film also hears from people on both sides of the conflict who are working to achieve peace.
The April 28 event begins at 7 PM at the Unitarian Universalists of San Mateo, 300 E. Santa Inez Avenue is San Mateo. Admission is free, contributions are welcome. The UUSM is wheelchair accessible.
Don't miss this unique film meant to listen to and consider the realities of the conflicted region of Israel and Palestine.
Free, contributions welcome.
