Chasing Coral is an award winning 2017 documentary directed by Jeff Orlowski about a team of divers, scientists and photographers, who document the disappearance of coral reefs around the world. Coral reefs have been called the “rain forests of the seas,” a remarkable and beautiful ecosystem that plays a vital role in all life in the oceans.
Yet with global warming raising water temperatures, “coral bleaching”— a sign of impending mass coral death — has spread throughout the world. This film sounds a warning of the implications of the dying off of coral reefs. We will discuss the film and what we need to do to save the ecosystem of our planet for future generations.
