Local workers among 800,000 nationwide not getting paid during shutdown

Forty percent of the federal workforce – 800,000 employees nationwide – are not getting paid during the partial government shutdown that began at midnight Dec. 28. Bay Area members of the American Federation of Government Employees will rally and hold a press conference at Oakland International Airport on Friday to highlight the impact the shutdown is having on workers, their families, and the nation.
