On the Saturday before Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Women’s March Oakland painted the streets with color and fanfare. The 2019 march was co-hosted by Women’s March Oakland, Black Women Organized for Political Action and the Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Center.
The day started with a rally beginning at 10 a.m. at Lake Merritt Amphitheater. Then the march went up 14th Street, ending at Frank Ogawa Plaza with a "Call to Action Alley" featuring performances by Bay Area artists and displays by organizations working for good causes in the Bay Area.
