Stop the Stadium!

1950 Parkside Drive, council chambers.
In the spirit of the occupy movement, let's be loud and clear: NO STADIUM in downtown Concord!
Mayor Obringer wants to spend public money to help finance a stadium for real estate mogul Mark Hall.
The city of Concord has been failing to maintain the roads, failing to make more bike lanes, and failing to protect renters from mass eviction. The city of Concord has been failing to improve the parks, and failing to get homeless people into support services. There's no money for basic services, but somehow... as if by magic... there's millions of dollars in the budget for a sports stadium that the public has been in opposition to.
We need housing by BART, with a mixed-use component that will provide meaningful jobs. We don't need a stadium. Economic studies show that stadiums are a burden, not a boon, for communities.
