Challenge the Whole Foods Lawsuit - We Will Not Be Silenced
Date:
Tuesday, October 23, 2018
Time:
12:30 PM
-
2:30 PM
Event Type:
Protest
Organizer/Author:
Direct Action Everywhere
Location Details:
Grand Avenue @ Bay Place, Oakland CA
Join us for a pre-court protest!
Whole Foods is suing Direct Action Everywhere, Wayne Hsiung, 150 unnamed activists and 25 unnamed organizations because they are afraid of the truth! We have repeatedly shown the public that "humane meat" is a lie and, in response, Whole Foods is trying to ban us from every store in the entire state. We go to court to fight this battle on October 23rd, but not without a protest first. We will not be silenced!
We will be ending this protest right at the courthouse, so please join us in court afterwards as well.
WHERE: Meet at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Bay Place, off Lake Merritt in Oakland.
WHEN:
12:30pm: Meet and hangout
12:40pm: Demo briefing starts (promptly)
2:30pm: Expected end time
WEAR: Please wear a blue DxE t-shirt - email almira [at] dxe.io if you don't have one and she can bring one for you. Because we are an above-ground organization we do not allow people to cover their faces during protests except for religious/cultural reasons.
ACCESSIBILITY: This event will include about 30 minutes of standing followed by a 1.2 mile march which will be done at a moderate pace. If you have questions or need support to attend this event, email sfbay-protest [at] directactioneverywhere.com.
WHO: Everyone welcome! If you're nervous about protesting, you can come observe or hold a sign quietly. All forms of participation are appreciated!
