Socialist Night School: Socialist Perspectives on Women's Oppression

Date:
Tuesday, October 16, 2018
Time:
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Event Type:
Class/Workshop
Organizer/Author:
East Bay DSA Socialist Feminist Caucus
Location Details:
East Bay Community Space 507 55th St, Oakland, CA, 94609

How do socialists understand the oppression of women and its relationship to capitalism? How can a socialist analysis offer insight into issues of gendered power relations and different kinds of gendered labor? How is the socialist perspective different from the liberal feminism of Sheryl Sandberg and Hillary Clinton? How can socialists contribute to the fight against gender oppression? And what policy demands should socialists campaign for to address it?

In the wake of Brett Kavanaugh's ascension to the Supreme Court, we'll be discussing all these questions and more.
