Spend the evening with local college students and faculty (Professors Mickey Huff and Nolan Higdon) from Project Censored, who will speak on the investigative journalism they are pursuing. They identify the most significant censored news stories in the US and learn why the stories were suppressed.
Every year since 1976, Project Censored, our nation's oldest news-monitoring group -- whose membership boasts, through its Campus Affiliates Program, more than 250 students and 49 professors spread over 18 campuses -- has produced a Top-25 list of under-reported news stories and a book, Censored, dedicated to the stories that ought to be top features on the nightly news, but that are missing because of media bias and self-censorship.
A perennial favorite of booksellers, teachers, and readers everywhere, Project Censored is one of the strongest life-signs of our current collective desire to get the news we citizens need. The Mt. Diablo Peace and Justice Center is proud to host this organization and students on an annual basis.
Reception before the event begins at 6 PM in the lounge at the Center.
$10 pre-registered ($15 at door), $5 Peace Center members, FREE for students.
