Guest speaker Zen Trenholm from the Bay area Democracy at Work Institute (DAWI) will speak about the benefits and process of converting small businesses to employee ownership. Zen works nationwide to build capacity, spawn partnerships, and provide resources in support of employee ownership.
Ross Newport, worker-owner at Community Printers of Santa Cruz, will describe their experiences as a 40-year, 30 person worker-owned cooperative.
Maria Cadenas, Executive Director of Santa Cruz Community Ventures (SCCV) will bring a community capital perspective to the discussion. SCCV has worked to promote economic justice through financial education and asset building for 25 years.
The panel’s presentation will be followed by a period of Q and A.
