A talk by Waleed Alkohlani, PhD
Yemen has been gripped by political upheaval and sectarian strife after the Arab Spring of 2011, and is now facing a dire humanitarian crisis following the Saudi-led military assault on the country. What are the root causes of conflict, and is there a way out? Waleed Alkohlani provides an informed Yemeni perspective.
Waleed Alkohlani, PhD is a computer engineer in Silicon Valley who immigrated from Yemen to pursue higher education. He has followed the crisis in Yemen closely through Yemeni and regional sources, as well as through friends and relatives in Yemen. He has studied how sectarian differences in the region have fueled regional conflicts.
The public is invited. $5 suggested donation at the door.
No one turned away for lack of funds.
Co-sponsored by: Monterey Peace and Justice Center, Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom - Monterey County Branch, and Veterans for Peace Chapter 46
