Rally on Anniversary of Roe v. Wade for Reproductive Rights and Against Sexual Harassment
45 years ago today, the Supreme Court declared that a woman has the right to make her own decisions about her body. Roe v. Wade was a landmark moment for women’s rights in America. Today we are still fighting for our reproductive rights and against sexual harassment. What happened? The Trump administration, for one thing.

45 years ago today, the Supreme Court declared that a woman has the right to make her own decisions about her body. Roe v. Wade was a landmark moment for women’s rights in America. So why are we still fighting for those rights despite the passage of Roe v. Wade? It's because Trump and his cronies in Congress constantly threaten women’s access to reproductive health care.
Leading up to a protest in downtown Los Altos, two Stanford University affiliated doctors, Dr. Wing Kay Fok and Dr. Sophia Yen, gave updates on the latest in birth control delivery and expanding access to medication abortions. Dr. Fok spoke about S.B. 320 that is now moving through the California State Senate. It would require California public universities to provide medication abortions. (One third of abortions in the US are medication abortions). Dr. Yen said that it is fiscally and morally wise for both insurance companies and government to cover the cost of birth control.
The Raging Grannies sang at the beginning of the afternoon event, and after it led a march of those gathered through the orchards behind the city hall of Los Altos, California to the street in front of it. The protest was for hard-won abortion rights, better access to birth control, and against sexual harassment. The event was co-sponsored by the Los Altos-Mountain View, Sunnyvale-Cupertino and Palo Alto branches of AAUW, the Mountain View-Los Altos and Palo Alto branches of the League of Women Voters, and Planned Parenthood Mar Monte.
