The Biblical Roots of MLK's evolving Economic Justice thinking: a walking tour

This edition of this near-weekly walking tour surveying San Francisco social movements will pay special heed to the deep roots of Martin Luther King's economic justice thought. After recounting the War on Poverty, The Diggers, the Black Panthers, the personal cum group therapy of est, the LBGTQ liberation movements, Jim Jones, the Mormon Hegira, and the American Indian Movement, the walk will explore the remarkable sociological achievement narrated in the Hebrew Bible wherein liberation was equated with being human. It is this last piece which inspired MLK, and which also launched the formulation of San Francisco's most notorious (but utterly salutary) contribution to social justice theory and practice.

Join this free walking tour, then join one or more of the myriad "96 hours of resistance" events going on elsewhere in the Bay Region.
