The NAACP Santa Cruz County Branch and the Resource Center for Nonviolence Project ReGeneration, will co-sponsor an afternoon of activities for youth of all ages. The activities will include interactive booths from youth activist groups, food, music, art, expression and education with an emphasis on empowering youth. The event will be held at the Resource Center for Nonviolence, 612 Ocean Street, Santa Cruz. This event is FREE.

Will the NAACP now actually begin to publicly press the SCPD for accountabiliity around racial profiling and, for instance, require the SCPD to include race statistics on its summaries of arrests and citations?
Or is this to be another misuse of Martin Luther King as a kind of "look how far we've come!" false hagiography as blacks, youth, the poor, and other minorities continue to be shot down and brutalized nation-wide without consequence?
