Why do we say the kkkops and the klan go hand in hand?
Because as the events of Charlottesville once again demonstrated, the police are not a neutral observer in the conflict between oppressor and oppressed, between exploiter and exploited, between right and left: they are a tool of the ruling class, the violent means by which it enforces it's will.
Because the klan and other white supremacist groups, as an extra legal arm of the state, fill the same role as the police: they sow terror among Black and Brown people, among immigrants, among LGBTQ people, the disabled and among all of the oppressed.
Because the police suppress the Black Lives Matter movement, and defend white supremacists when oppressed and working people pour into the streets to oppose them.
Because the government encourages the klan and finds it useful, even when publicly denouncing it.
Because the kops and klan share loyalty to the ruling class.
Because many klan members wear a hood by night, and a police uniform or a judge's robe by day.
Join us for a class as we discuss the history of collaboration between the cops and the klan, the basis of their collaboration, and why the cops are never on our side.
Refreshments will be served and the space is wheelchair accessible.
