A simple question (Not!): Do you believe that the earth is the birthright of all people?

Come along on a walking tour surveying San Francisco social movement history as a pretext for introducing you to a social philosophy arising in 19th century San Francisco which featured a hard-edged piece of public policy, namely the socializing of the market rent of land.

Say what? Yeah, socializing the market rent of land. That means collecting from the land owner for public revenue that portion of the market rent you pay which is attributable not to the building value, but to the locational value. In short, what if locational value were treated as the economic community surplus, and were used to fund schools, streets, courts, museums, etc.?

You crave Bernie health care, the end of land speculation, definitive campaign finance reform, banking reform, wage uplift, an end to unearned income? Rouse yourself Saturday morning and find out what leading intellectuals on the take have been keeping from you.
