Bay Area Women in Black is part of an international, grass-roots movement of women who stand in public spaces to demonstrate our opposition to militarism, racism, femicide, homophobia, and other violations of human rights. Our local group focuses on the illegal military occupation of Palestine by Israel and the inhumane treatment of Palestinians, which Bishop Desmond Tutu described as worse than the apartheid policies of South Africa. We support the Palestinian hunger strikers held in "administrative detention" in cruel conditions in Israel and oppose the grotesque ($5.8 billion/year) in US military aid to Israel.
Please join us on the first Saturday of every month, in front of the Grand Lake Theater. Dress in black and plan to vigil in silence. Signs will be provided.
