W.E.B. Du Bois had plenty to say about social justice, and caught at the essential materialist piece of social justice in his signal study of post-Civil War America "Black Reconstruction in America 1860-1880." The failure of white America to secure land independence for those formerly held as slaves condemned America to spiritual infamy, racial divide, cyclical economic collapse, and intellectual hypocrisy.

Come along on a walking tour surveying the land question as it has shaped San Francisco history. This week particular attention will be given to Du Bois' 1948 San Francisco visit in relation to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

A cordial invitation is extended to those recently enrolled in The Center for Political Education's reading of "Black Reconstruction in America 1860-1880," as well as to clergy.
