It's Spring Break week off and you're in town, looking for inspiration and renewal before the last leg of the school year. We've an idea: spend an hour with San Francisco-originating "Teachers with whiteboards" getting an easy to use introduction to our tried and true technique for integrating social justice thinking into reading analysis and social studies.
I'm visiting a Sacramento friend on Thursday, and would welcome meeting Sacramento teachers who crave adding spice to their "close reading" of literature and/or social studies lessons. Suitable 3rd-12th grades. Bring a picture book, a chapter book, a novel, a textbook you use in class, and I'll show you how to snap kids awake with "the power triangle," "the circle of justice," and "the whiteboard game."
No money involved. I'm not selling anything, only sharing some kid-proven pedagogical techniques informing social justice themes.
RSVP appreciated but not necessary. I'll be in a red shirt.
