Sunday Morning at the Marxist Library
The Beilis Affair of 1913:
A new Dreyfus Affair in Czarist Russia.
Lenin called The Beilis Affsir of 1913 a new Dreyfus Affair in Russia. This was the last gasp of Czarism to divert revolutionary struggle into an anti-Jewish Pogrom. When Beilis was found not guilty the Russian working class launched a general strike condemning antisemitism. Bernard Malamud's book The Fixer about Menahem Mendel Beilis was made into a move. Speaker will be Elazar Friedman.
