The 45th Annual Muir Beach Volunteer Firemen’s Barbecue is a fun event for the whole family with delicious food, activities for the kids, and dancing to live music by local favorites Andre Pessis and his All-Stars and opening band Soul Ska. An annual Memorial Day Weekend tradition in Marin, the event this year takes place on Sunday, May 28, from noon to 5pm at Santos Meadows on Frank Valley Road. Just follow the signs from Muir Beach or Muir Woods.
The Firemen’s Barbecue is a festive gathering and fundraiser for the Muir Beach Volunteer Fire Department. Some of Marin and the Bay Area’s best musicians will rock the stage while Muir Beach firefighters and community members tend to smoky grills. Sought after raffle prizes are offered and, for the kids, there is a special play zone with climbing walls and bounce houses.
Barbecue chicken and vegetarian tamale lunches, desserts, plus sodas, beer and wine will be available for purchase, as are clothing and other items featuring the famous Muir Beach Volunteer Fire Department iconic dog logo. The day’s activities end with a raffle of more than 100 prizes that include fantastic accommodations, airline tickets and gift certificates from popular Bay Area and beyond restaurants and attractions.
The Annual Firemen’s Barbecue is free and open to the public, however the event is a fundraiser for the Muir Beach Volunteer Fire Department and donations and purchases of merchandise, food, beverages and raffle tickets are encouraged and appreciated.
Parking is $20 per vehicle; carpooling is encouraged.

About the Muir Beach Volunteer Fire Department:
Muir Beach Volunteer Firefighters embody the essence of what makes Muir Beach great; the spirit of community, the willingness to step up and volunteer, and the desire to help others with no expectation for reward other than knowing that their actions make a difference.
Training closely with Marin County Firefighters at the Throckmorton station, Muir Beach Firefighters are required, at a minimum, to hold and maintain an E.M.R (Emergency Medical Responder) and State Volunteer Firefighter certificate. The group also includes one M.D. (Medical Doctor) and one E.M.T. (Emergency Medical Technician).
The result is a highly skilled group of unpaid experts who respond to a full range of emergency situations, from structure and wild land fires, vehicle accidents to medical emergencies and everything in between. In addition to the tremendous amount of time and effort each volunteer gives towards training and providing emergency services 24/7, the Muir Beach Volunteer Fire Department also provides various community services and educational programs to the residents of Muir Beach such as CPR/AED, first aid, fire extinguisher instruction and servicing, water safety, community emergency preparedness, and fuel abatement program.
