Outside and Inside Mandela Foods Cooperative
Coopivore is either a temporary experiment or it will become a long-term source of fuel supporting the transition to a just and equitable food system. Bay Area residents can turn an everyday act -- buying food -- into a revolutionary force, by collectively prioritizing purchasing food from worker cooperatives, starting with Mandela Foods Cooperative. This organized buying power can literally re-shape the economic terrain of our communities. Coopivore builds community and aggregates consumer buying power to ensure the growth and success of cooperatives in the food and farming industry.
co-op-i-vore: noun. Someone with a deep craving for worker justice in the food system. A coopivore’s diet increasingly consists of food sourced from a growing number of worker-owned cooperatives. Coopivores move in herds, concentrating their buying power to enable worker cooperatives to create healthy, living wage jobs in our communities, replacing large, exploitative food corporations.
