2016 San Francisco Gaza 5K

We're thrilled to be returning to San Francisco for the fourth year in a row.

This year, we need you registered early and raising TONS of funds to support the kids of Gaza! Make sure to take advantage of early bird prices until Friday, September 30 to ensure a race t-shirt and to start reaching out to friends and family to help you reach your personal fundraising goals.

WHY IS THIS RACE SO IMPORTANT?

Proceeds from the Gaza 5K walk/run benefit UNRWA’s Community Mental Health Program for Palestinian children in Gaza suffering from psychological trauma and PTSD due to the prolonged crisis of the summer 2014 and the continued blockade. Many of these already vulnerable children have now lived through three traumatic rounds of violence, witnessing death, destruction, and displacement. It's estimated that almost 100% of children in Gaza now require immediate counseling.

By participating in the Gaza 5K, you will directly support UNRWA’s psycho-social support program to provide these children with critically needed counseling services, offering them a safe space to express their emotions and fears, and the opportunity to work with trained counselors to learn valuable coping skills. FUNDRAISING IS THE KEY TO OUR EFFORTS AND IMPACT.

Participants who raise at least $500 will receive a beautiful classic keffiyeh from the Herbrawi Textile Factory, the last remaining keffiyeh factory in Palestine. Complete with a “made in Palestine” tag, these rare keffiyehs are the living memory of Palestine, and we hope they will inspire you to push your fundraising to the next level!
