The outlying regions of Northeastern India, Bangladesh and Nepal are rarely visited by outsiders. This fascinating region is manifestly diverse: Buddhist Nepal and Sikkim, Hindu Bengal and Orissa, Muslim Bangladesh, Protestant Nagaland and Mizoram, and the Tibeto-Burman tribes of Assam, Sikkim, Nagaland and Meghalaya. These cultures have coexisted here for centuries.
Photographer Eugene Reshetov seeks to present each destination through the eyes of a street wanderer, a quiet observer. In his view, the best way to capture the essence of a place is through the faces of its inhabitants and, true to that statement, this exhibit highlights the people of various walks of life that he encountered on his journey through South Asia.
Reception and exhibition viewing from 6:00-8:00 PM. Remarks by Eugene Reshetov begin at 7:00 PM.
The exhibition is open for complimentary viewing Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM and during World Affairs programs.
