Protest and Speak Out in Defense of Anti-Fascist Teacher Yvette Felarca
at the Berkeley Unified School District Board of Directors Meeting
Wednesday, October 5, 2016
6:30pm Rally outside (march to school board meeting 7pm)
2020 Bonar Street (at University), Berkeley California
7:30pm Speak out inside (fill out speakers cards before)
Contact the Berkeley school board and demand that the suspension of Yvette Felarca and harassment of her students be put on the agenda of Wednesday's board meeting: boardofed@berkeley.net, Superintendent@berkeley.net
Yvette Felarca, a Berkeley middle school teacher, is being persecuted by the school district for her political activities.
After she helped prevent the neo-Nazi rally on the steps of the capitol in Sacramento this summer, and was one of several people who were stabbed by the fascists, terror threats were made against the school if she was not fired. Instead of defending the entire school, including Yvette, the Berkeley Unified School District has since capitulated to the neo-Nazis, docked some of her pay, and suspended her.
Parents of some of her students have reported that their children were removed from class without parental notification, consent, or presence, and were interrogated about Yvette.
Voice your solidarity with Yvette Felarca, and demand that she be reinstated immediately, paid her full wages, and the harassment of her and her students be stopped: boardofed@berkeley.net, Superintendent@berkeley.net
Non-sectarian defense of all anti-fascists!
An injury to one is an injury to all!

The Berkeley School Board is listed at
http://www.berkeleyschools.net/school-board/school-board-members/
When you search the internet for the biographies of each one of these members, you can see that these are "liberals." Yet, they are openly and maliciously carrying out the 1950s style anti-communist witchhunt against an obviously good teacher, without providing any serious charges against her, and with an illegal and vicious intimidation of children by interrogating them without their parents or an attorney present to get them to say something negative about Ms. Felarca. The Berkeley School Board is openly and proudly taking the side of Nazis and that must be stopped now. You can call the school board at 510.644.6550 and leave a message of support of Ms. Felarca, demanding the suspension be cancelled immediately and she receive all her illegally stolen back pay. You can also demand that the Berkeley Teachers Union GO ON STRIKE IMMEDIATELY if Ms. Felarca is not reinstated immediately. And finally, you can demand all anti-fascist organizations run candidates for the next school board election, and if that is too far in advance, start a recall campaign against this entire school board, and replace them with anti-fascist school board members. All California residents have a right to complain to the Berkeley School Board since our tax dollars pay for all schools in this state and we are asked to vote for school bonds and for a State School Superintendent. If it is not feasible for the Berkeley Teachers Union to go on strike alone, THEN ALL ALAMEDA COUNTY UNIONIZED WORKERS SHOULD GO ON STRIKE. Anti-communist witchhunts are first and foremost anti-labor and they were used in the 1950s to smash labor unions so that labor today is very weak. That has to change now.
