Solidarity with the Charlotte rebellion! Against the police and police violence!
On September 20th, Keith Lamont Scott was killed by police while carrying a book that was “mistaken” for a gun. This comes on the heels of a hot summer rife with tension and the largest ever nation-wide prisoner strike. The staggering number of Black people killed by the police each year coupled with the looming monstrosity that is the prison-industrial complex serve as almost daily reminders that Black people are only given two options in this country: slavery, or death.
The media, through a combination of twisted facts, bald faced lies, and an onslaught of coverage, render this truth at once commonwealth and overwhelming. We’ve seen this in Dallas, in Columbus, Atlanta, New York, Baltimore and of course countless times here in the Bay.
But there is another option – to fight – and the courageous youth in Charlotte are showing the way. Freedom isn’t granted; it is ripped from the hands of the oppressors. We regain our dignity when we fight for our lives. We will meet at 7pm on Saturday the 24th at Latham Square – the starting point of two historic general strikes – to collectively show solidarity with those fighting for their lives in Charlotte and our opposition to the police and their world.
