Defenders of urban agriculture are needed to speak up for agenda item 38, a proposal to encourage and defend urban agriculture in Berkeley. Not everyone wants to be a tech-junkie, many of us want to grow food and build an ecologically supportive infrastructure for agriculture. The urban agriculture proposal will help support mini-farms and rooftop gardening areas.
Aside from food production, urban agriculture creates healthy environments for bees, butterflies, beneficial bugs, and birds.
Berkeley is NOT Silicon Valley. Fight back against the increasingly hostile encroachment of the tech industry which is destroying Berkeley.
City council member Capitelli wants to defeat the proposal, and is organizing his political allies at East Bay Forward to flood city council chambers to defeat the item. Supporters of urban agriculture and food sustainability are needed. The item is number 38 on the list. Please attend the meeting at 7PM, and be prepared to stay even if the meeting runs till 11PM.
