Land values equal community. If that rings true to you, join in this teach-in led by successful playwright, land economist, and living proof that "land rent owners win" David Giesen as he lays out the social, political, and economic dynamic that constitutes Trumpism.
Trump has made his fortune on the strength of low taxes on land values. He's a second or third-rate business man with money to burn that comes from land value rents.
When land values are collected for public purposes, Trumpism fails. However, far too many well-intentioned social justice advocates, much less the typical voter, don't push for socializing land values via a modified property tax. Instead, Trump is denounced, rich people are excoriated, business-incentives are emasculated, sales taxes are resorted to, building developers are lambasted, poor-me-ism burgeons, piddly renter rights legislation gets promoted, and on and on. Meanwhile, the spirit and effect of Trumpism sails on.
Trumpism? It's simply the normative expectation that private parties deserve a good deal of, if not a whalloping amount of, the value of location. Low property taxes are the mechanism of Trumpism. And, remarkably, most of the liberal and moderate Democrats who wouldn't consider voting for Trump are, nonetheless, unwitting practitioners or would-be practitioners of Trumpism!
This is it. It's THE workshop on Trumpism. There's no substitute for dashing your loosely or closely held notions about what justice is. If they don't address Trumpism, your notions are anti-historic, self-abasing, community-denying nonsense. If you truly believe in the spirit of 40 acres and a mule, and are committed to ending the fundamental mode of domination, namely control of the economic power of land, this is your meal ticket to an evening of unprecedented spiritual delight. Land values = community.
Those attending will be well-fed a hearty vegetarian meal.
