MillionsMissing

Date:
Tuesday, September 27, 2016
Time:
11:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Event Type:
Protest
Organizer/Author:
Jane Pannell
Location Details:
San Francisco City Hall, VanNess Avenue between McAllister and Grove Streets

We will rally as part of a global day of protest to bring awareness to the urgent need for Federal funding for clinical research, medical education, and effective treatment for the at least 1-3 million Americans living with ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, sometimes called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). We will gather to demand help for the people living with this "invisible" disease, which has been trivialized and ignored for years. Many patients are housebound or bedbound. People die from this disease, but their cause of death is attributed to other things, because physicians lack the training and awareness to diagnose ME. We are invisible, saddled with a ridiculous name which makes it easy to dismiss us. Billions of dollars are lost to the US economy every year due to our loss of productivity.
