APTP Announces Oakland Police Whistleblower Hotline
On July 11, Dan Siegel, legal counsel for the Anti Police-Terrorism Project, announced a new hotline for Oakland police and city workers to blow the whistle on OPD corruption, misconduct, and predatory policing.

The press conference was held in front of the Oakland Police Administration Building, the main entrance of OPD headquarters still showing red paint and boarded up from the huge protest on July 7 in Oakland that shut down I-880 for over four hours in response to the police murders of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, as well as the recently exposed widespread corruption at OPD.
The Anti Police-Terrorism Project believes the chances are good that whistleblowers will step forward to help bring needed change. One indication that at least some inside to the department support major reforms came right before the press conference began, when a high-ranking Oakland police officer pulled his car over and told Dan Siegel, "Keep the damn pressure on! OPD is an embarrassment. It needs to be fixed."
Dan Siegel notes that whistleblowers need not worry about legal expenses for telling the truth. On many occasions his firm has represented whistleblowers in lawsuits against the city of Oakland and other public agencies on a contingency basis. "Officers are not expected to come forward with dollars in their hands. We want them to come forward with information."
Whistleblowers can call 510-839-1200 or email evidence to policehotline [at] siegelyee.com.
