The NATO summit taking place in Warsaw, Poland, acts as a general assembly of unelected military bureaucracies dominated by the USA’s Department of Defense, for the planning of endless war, including an ever-escalating threat of an unthinkable military confrontation with the Federation of Russia and member states of the Eurasian Union, circumstances that open the doorway to nuclear war.
The escalations in the new Cold War are being implemented alongside austerity regimes imposed against the working class of NATO member states (including the USA) to fund military-first policies in service to international market concerns. The outcome of these polices are the permanent states of war imposed against the people of Libya, Afghanistan, Ukraine, and more to come, with many millions already dead from the outcome of targeting civilian infrastructure and disruption of food production.

To bring attention to the current situation brought to the world by NATO, the Bay Area Peace Council has called for a gathering on Saturday, July 9th, to coincide with the NATO Summit in Warsaw, Poland. Other actions have been organized across the USA, in the European Union, with the largest at Warsaw, held with a massive demonstration, and organized as an alternative summit for democracy, peace and socialism. The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), representing 92 million workers, has issued a statement of support for the Anti-NATO gatherings worldwide.
WFTU describes how “NATO’s July summit in Warsaw will resolute new dangerous plans for the working class. The NATO is planning to establish new military bases in Japan and Greece. It gathers strong military forces in North Europe, Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea. USA and their allies are getting ready for new interventions against the workers in struggle, these interventions is the main reason for the refuges and immigrants. (…) We condemn the imperialistic interventions of NATO and we call upon the class oriented trade union movement, the people’s movement, in every corner of the world to be alerted and fight against the new imperialist interventions which are planned.”
