Oakland City Council Community and Economic Development Committee to Consider Protect Oakland Renters Act Tuesday
The CED Committee can pass along the Ballot Measure that will expand rent control and just cause eviction protections to the full Council
OAKLAND – On Tuesday, May 24th, at 1:30pm in the Sgt. Mark Dunakin Room – Hearing Room 1, the Oakland City Council Community and Economic Development Committee will hear a report on the Protect Oakland Renters Act Ballot Measure and give recommendation on the Ballot Measure. The “Protect Oakland Renters Act” would establish the composition and functions of the Rent Board, establish rent adjustments for certain units and establish procedures for Governance of rental units in Oakland. Members of the public will testify.

When: Tuesday, May 24, 2016; 1:30pm
What: CED Committee to hear public testimony on Protect Oakland Renters Act and receive a City report on the Act, the Committee may then send the Act to the full City Council with a recommendation.
A spokesperson will be available at the meeting and immediately afterward to provide comments.
The Committee to Protect Oakland Renters is a broad coalition of organizations and community members who are fighting for the future of Oakland. The Committee includes housing and tenant advocates, labor unions, and other community leaders who recognize that housing displacement and lack of affordable housing has now reached crisis proportions in our City, challenging almost all income levels. The Committee members include:
