For those who care about Human Rights, and their universal application, this event will offer:
* Historical context and first- hand updates about the shifting realities in Palestine and Israel
* Rationale for the burgeoning campaign for boycotts and divestments in churches and universities
* Training on how to implement boycotts and divestment from companies complicit in human rights violations
The event is designed for all levels of knowledge and engagement in nonviolent struggle to end the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the disenfranchisement of the Palestinian people. This conference, based on the commitment of the church, the university, and the community to truth and justice, is seeking to answer the call from Palestinian civil society, the Black Lives Matter movement, and the Palestinian Prisoners Solidarity Network for BDS to help end their suffering and denial of basic human rights through nonviolent actions of Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions.
Through plenary lectures, workshops, direct action, and artistic performance, participants can find answers to questions about how to end the illegal occupation of Palestine and about connections to broader divestment from the prison- military- weapons industrial complex.
This conference is open to all. Whatever your background or expertise, you will find a place to learn, grow, and network for others.
Featuring:
Omar Barghouti: Cofounder of the BDS Movement
Lara Kiswani: Executive Director of the Arab Resource & Organizing Center
Rev. Graylan Hagler - United Church of Christ, DC and veteran social and economic rights activist
