We know the current dominant capitalist system does exactly what it was designed to do: line corporate pockets at the expense of real people’s health and livelihoods, destroying the environment and fueling the war machine at the same time. But we also know that another world is possible. Many of us are working to build that new world right now. Come hear from:
■ Cynthia Kaufman, author of Getting Past Capitalism
■ Richard Hobbs, Executive Director of Human Agenda
■ Elizabeth Sarmiento, co-founder of Smart Yards cooperative
■ Derek Tennant, organizer of Heal The Valley
■ Sharat G. Lin, past president of San Jose Peace and Justice Center
We will also have discussions facilitated by local leaders working toward the next system in the South Bay in the areas of criminal justice, affordable education, housing, transit, health care, worker owned cooperatives, conscious consumption, and political democracy.
Free and open to the public
Wheelchair accessible
Sponsored by the Vasconcellos Institute for Democracy in Action, the San Jose Peace & Justice Center, and Human Agenda
These events are part of a national week of teach-ins on The Next System Project. Learn more about it at teachins.thenextsystem.org.
